How I Balance Being a Realtor, Mom, and Community Leader
Some days I feel like I am spinning three plates at once: Realtor, Mom, and Community Leader. Each role matters deeply to me, and balance is not about giving them equal time. For me, it is about knowing which plate needs the most attention in the moment and giving myself grace when things are not perfect.
This morning started with a client call over coffee while I reviewed a contract at the kitchen counter. Once that was handled, I shifted into Realtor mode with follow-ups, planning an open house, and scheduling showings.
By lunchtime, I was wearing my community hat. I met with a local nonprofit board I serve on, and we talked about opportunities for high school students. The same organizational skills I use in real estate help me step into leadership with confidence in the community.
The evening was dedicated to mom duties. Homework help, dinner prep, and pausing long enough to really listen when my daughter wanted to share about her day. That is when I remind myself that balance is not about splitting my time evenly. It is about being present where I am.
What I Have Learned About Balance
If you are juggling several roles of your own, here are a few things that have helped me:
1. Plan in blocks, not minutes.
I set aside blocks of time for work, family, and community. This keeps me from feeling like I need to do everything at once.
2. Learn to say no gracefully.
Every yes means saying no to something else. I try to make sure my yes aligns with my priorities.
3. Ask for help without guilt.
Whether it is outsourcing at home or leaning on a teammate in business, I have learned that asking for help does not make me less capable. It makes me more effective.
4. Be present in the moment.
When I am with clients, they have my full focus. When I am with my daughter, she knows she is my priority. Switching gears with intention is what keeps me grounded.
5. Celebrate progress, not perfection.
Some days flow smoothly and others do not, but each small step forward is worth celebrating.
Final Thoughts
What keeps me steady is remembering why I do each of these things. Real estate allows me to serve families in a way that truly matters. Being a mom is my greatest joy and responsibility. Community work connects me to something bigger than myself.
If you are reading this and balancing multiple hats, remember this: balance is not about perfection. It is about prioritizing with heart, giving yourself grace, and recognizing that what you are doing really does matter.
